Quote Of The Day #20

Happy With What You’ve Got But Strive For..

My apologies for missing another day’s post! Some friends of mine dropped by for the night so we ended up losing track of time. Oddly enough we all woke up with slight hangovers.. I wonder why? On a totally unrelated topic, Peach Bellini is incredibly delicious. Like really, really dealicious. Of course mayhaps the cheap hipster beers also had something to do with it, maybe. ^-^

Anyways do you ever have those nights where you just sit in the dark all alone with your computer/phone/tablet, earbuds in or headphones on, and some beautiful music taking you out of your body. I love getting lost in the music. It’s like your laptop screen and it’s little glow become the only things in existence. It’s just so incredibly tranquil; I wish I could carry the feeling of it throughout an entire day. It would be so much easier to do anything without caring about others opinions, but alas that’s why we have the phrase social anxiety.

A friend of mine on instagram is often laughing or out having a fun time while livestreaming it all. For ages i’ve wondered how she manages to keep that smile up every day, like some of those days have to be a mask right? She can’t truly always be that happy. But then I was scrolling through their insta story and there was a certain quote she once heard that she attributes it all to, it’s so wonderfully simple, but powerful words nonetheless “If you want a happy life you just gotta be happy with what you got, but still strive for better.” It’s certainly not wrong, although it should also include meditation! 😛

As a species I feel like we need to become better at living in the moment. Like essential day to day mindfulness has become such a minor thing now that we’re all caught up with planning things months in advance and constantly rushing to things. We spend so much time living in the future that we’re becoming less grounded, needing our phones or at least something attention grabbing to be happening in order for us to truly be paying attention to, experiencing, and being present in, the moment. The now. I don’t remember who said it (although it may be from Kung Fu Panda) “The past is history, the future is a mystery, and the now is a gift which is why we call it the present.” Now that i’m thinking about it I feel like it’s Master Oogway, but regardless it’s a wonderful expression.

It’s a wonderful feeling to still see new people popping up regardless of my few missed days, I appreciate you! It’s about 4AM where i’m at so I feel like I should probably head to bed soon, I mean i’m not that tired but I feel kind of out of sorts so I know my mind’s exhausted. I love when friends drop by, but by golly people that don’t slow down and enjoy life along with the natural silences that come from a lull in a conversation are exhausting! Such is the curse of an introvert, craving other people but like a cat you’ll, after an indeterminate amount of time just be like ‘yep, these people exist but i’m just going to go chill over there with like a book or something.’ the isolation allows us to recharge our batteries you could say. I’ll crave physical contact but just casually chill in my room meditating and reading instead of seeking it, I mean not all the time, i’ll sometimes end up texting people and being enticed out with the promise of food haha.

Anyways keep spreading the Peace, Love, and those Tranquil Vibes everyone!

Fingers Crossed

I’ve got an audition tomorrow morning and currently getting over a cold so right now I need to just head to bed and pray to whatever powers may be that my throat heals up overnight along with this stuffed up nose.

I’ll let you all know how it went afterwards, it’s the first of two opportunities I’ve got over the next few days. Keep searching out how to open those doors people! Keep advancing! Everyday, even when you’re sick, you’re still advancing in life. Don’t let time spent become a regret, never stop moving, evolving.

Anyways keep it real and do your best to live in the moment, we’re all divine beings, we’ve got this!

Peace, love, and tranquil vibes all,

The Boy In A Thunderstorm.

Do you ever feel like you’re freefalling and everything and everyone you’ve ever known or loved is just slipping past your fingertips as you desperately try to regain control?

Cause that’s what I feel like.

I feel like everyone else’s life cycle resembles that of a raindrop, a slow steady fall where they can be lifted and spun around by wind’s encompassing embrace; I feel like a bolt of lightning.

Screams out, dashing down to the ground as quickly as possible

But in all actuality it’s my impact that hits first before they hear my words.

By the time I gather the strength to cry out it’s already happened.

The only thing left is a memory of the scream and maybe an afterimage if you were looking at me.

..it’s all very, brief.

Short lived.

By the time you blink me out of your eyes it’ll be like I never was.

A tiny mark on the ground for where my body landed.

And even this will be washed away in time by the rain I call my friends.

For isn’t that what rain does?

Washes away and purifies?

Though if we go with that

Does that not mean by proxy I was impure?

And if I was impure how does that speak of those who came before me?

The brief bolts of lightning who seared themselves into my brain leaving only a brief afterimage in my memories

A little mark.

Perhaps that is why lightning is forked?

So we can revisit the spots of those who came before

And those who will come again.

Perhaps that is also why the rain resembles teardrops,

they both came from the same place but took different fates

and still the rain will linger as dew drops until it yet too drops,

Just like i did

Only slower.

I cannot conceive which to be the worse fate

That of the rain

Or the one that I take.

.

Well my ear thing fixed itself but now I’ve come down with a cold two days before a commercial audition, really hope it clears up in time or there’s minimal chance I’ll actually get the part. Ugh, why world? Why?

People Like Golden Retrievers.

Do you ever just have those people who can just smile at you and you’re instantly cheered up? Like their physical presence is so intoxicatingly happy that you just can’t feel bad around them? I think of those people like human golden retrievers; I absolutely love golden retrievers. They just radiate such a warm happy feeling that you just melt around them. Get more people like that in your life, they’ll only ever give you positive vibes. That’s the life tip for this week.

We don’t love enough. I mean oh sure we bandy the word about whenever we please, but not so often do we actually love. We’ve retreated from loving full heartedly because we learned of the pain which could come of it. That needs to change. Love wholeheartedly, love with every fiber of your being! Don’t be afraid of getting swept away, don’t you ever be afraid of love! Sometimes it hurts but don’t hide that pain, wear it openly. Live proudly. Revel in your pain when love leaves for it tells you you’re alive, if you feel everything fully than sure the lows hurt, but the highs? Simply nirvana, there’s so much beauty if you just let yourself fully feel.

I hate walking around everyday watching people, people with their heart’s blocked up behind a stone wall for fear of being touched. They’ll text lol but they’re not really laughing, they’ll rave about something being hilarious and then just do a half smile while watching it. People jumping from partner to partner not feeling the loss because they never allowed themselves to truly form a connection. I don’t understand that lifestyle. If something’s funny than let your amusement spill out, if it’s hysterically funny than cry tears of laughter, or giggle, snort! Don’t use people to cover up the emptiness of the one before them, don’t tell someone you love them while you’re holding your heart close. Learn to feel again, learn to living again!

If anyone was wondering, yes I may have been watching a bunch of Matthew Silver clips before this. But I mean how could you not love him and be influenced by his message? There’s just so much positive energy that comes off that man it’s incredible! And you can watch him slowly affect everyone using that infectious sense of fun, amusement, enjoyment. Even the people who had originally been staring with a disapproving and disgruntled expression get sucked into the “Love fart magic” as he calls it. I’d just leave it at love, he’s constantly spreading love vibes. It’s admirable.

Someone asked me what happiness was and I couldn’t really decide how to answer the question. I’m still not sure how to answer the question. However I will say that happiness is amazing, something to strive for. But that really doesn’t actually help to answer what happiness actually is. I was tempted to give the medical answer but I knew that wasn’t what he meant. I think if i’d known what to tell him I would’ve said happiness is that warm fuzzy feeling you get when a kitten chooses to curl up in your lap. I would’ve said happiness is the warm feeling of the sun on your face and a warm, gentle breeze hugging your skin. Happiness is waking up to the smell of your favourite food knowing it was cooked just for you. I would’ve said happiness was so many things, but all I said was “You know when someone’s face lights up at seeing you?” and then he walked off the subway. I hope he’s doing well, wherever he ended up.

Spread love, seek tranquility, speak peace,

A Different Way To Open Your Chakras.

For the longest time I wasn’t too sure about meditation as anything other than a focus tool, at least not until one day when I just sat down determined to see if all that stuff about energy and chakras had any truth to it. Honestly the kick that finally tossed me into gear was a clip about Aang from The Last Airbender where they likened the pools of chakra to pools of water flowing down a creek, they gave out a few simple steps which I found helpful so i’m going to quickly run you all through what I did with them. I’d say I spent about 15-20 minutes on each chakra.

  1. The Root Chakra – With this chakra what I did was focus on the base of my spine where there’s said to be a cone of energy which is commonly associated with the colour red. Think about everything it is that you fear, what makes you truly afraid? You must learn to let those fears go, let them all flow down the river which connects them. Letting your fears go can be extremely difficult but it will help to at least acknowledge them all if nothing else.
  2. The Sacral Chakra – Think of an orange pool of energy around three inches below the navel, although since this chakra is sometimes connected to water you could also picture light shades of blue if that clicks better for you. Look at all of your guilt, what do you blame yourself for? Acknowledge everything and forgive yourself for what you can, let go of what you can’t. Guilty situations will always end up happening at some point in your life but you need to learn to let that guilt go. No good can come from hanging on to that energy and letting it fester. Let your guilt all just flow down the river, I’ll be mentioning that analogy a lot.
  3. The Solar Plexus Chakra – Located around the upper half of your belly, focus on feeling that swirling pool of energy just like the others although in this case picture a yellow, fiery ball of energy. Now focus on something we often try to avoid, what are you ashamed of? What are the worst times you’ve ever disappointed yourself? You need to acknowledge this side of you by loving and accepting who you are, your mistakes were a vital part of creating who you are today. If you cannot accept that part of yourself than this will be a rather difficult chakra for you.
  4. The Heart Chakra – Moving to the middle of my chest I came to the heart chakra. Visualize this chakra as a swirling pool of green energy. This chakra was difficult for me as it deals with love and in order to unlock/unblock this chakra you need to let your grief flow down the river. Acknowledge each and every grievance, every painful loss, and allow them to fade away. The energy of those old loves/attachments will always be swirling around you and that will not disappear, however love will continue to take new and different forms, new attachments will come to replay those that have gone. Allow the currents to wash it all away.
  5. The Throat Chakra – Located right around the lower soft part of your neck is the chakra associated with sound and dealing with truth. Commonly pictured as purple, turquoise, or even aquamarine. Personally I prefer a nice tranquil turquoise. To unlock this chakra you need to acknowledge all of the little lies you tell yourself, you need to stop denying your own nature and accept that you are who you are. That is not to say you cannot change, but for this chakra you must learn to be content with who you are now. There’s no reason to deny yourself so just let that all flow through this beautiful river of energy.
  6. The Brow Chakra – This chakra is also know as the ‘Third Eye’ located somewhere between your eyebrows (although some people say the middle of your forehead.) and it’s associated with the pineal gland, visualize it as a deep purple or a bluish-white. This chakra deals with insight and is all about seeing past the illusions of this world. The biggest one and the one which I meditated on while trying to unlock my chakras was the illusion of separation. We are all connected, everything is connected and the very idea of separation is absurd to you once you’ve glimpsed this chakra, we often refer to this connection as the collective consciousness. The example given in Avatar is how if you really look you can see how every element is connected and part of the same whole, they are all one and contain each other.
  7. The Crown Chakra – The last chakra needing to be opened is located at the top of the head or even sometimes thought to be just above the head like an actual crown of energy; pure white energy. Although again like the last few, this chakra is occasionally depicted as a deep purple. But a blinding white light resembling that of a star’s light seemed to work the best for me. This chakra is actually the most demanding one to unlock and many people will never truly succeed in opening it, you must meditate on what attaches you to this world; what are your earthly attachments? Got a good handle on them? Release them all. You must allow them to flow down the river, in order to truly let go. Let the “pure cosmic energy” flow through you, feel that connection and when and only when you have managed to do this, will you have unlocked all of your chakras and be able to connect to your “Higher Self” achieving pure spiritual bliss.

Now believer or skeptic I’d recommend going through this list sometime, I guarantee that you’ll learn some things about yourself from the experience. Even if you just call it self reflection at the end of the day. I’d also recommend listening to a bi-neural beat recording associated with each chakra you work on, they can really help you get into that meditative state! Anyways I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed getting to write a guide to unlocking the chakras I wish i’d had years ago, it may have just been a me thing but I found meditation became way easier after I went through my chakras.
